  1.              Sensor's Lamer-Defence

  3. This program will destroy the Lamer-Revenge-virus on your disks.
  4. There are two kinds (by my knowledge!) of the Lamer-Revenge-Virus.
  5.  
  6.   -  The first version destroys all your disks present in the diskdrives at 
  7.      the time you reset the computer for the 6th time. This virus will
  8.      copy itself on any not write-protected disk. It uses the
  9.      startup-sequence to infect the computer. When an infected disk is
  10.      inserted in an external drive the virus will not be activated (you
  11.      might think that the computer can never be infected by an external
  12.      drive, but you can be wrong!). The virus can not be spotted by a
  13.      virus killer that uses the bootblock. After the virus has done it's
  14.      thing (destroying all your disks) it will display some alerts telling
  15.      you what he things is a joke!. Whell let me tel you that it's no joke!

  17.   -  The second version of the virus will not destroy your disks entirely.
  18.      But will only create a block containing only the word LAMER!!!. This
  19.      block has a bad checksum. When this has happend and you want to load
  20.      the source of your newly coded demo (which might be the only copy of
  21.      that source) you will get the message  VOLUME .... HAS A READ/WRITE
  22.      ERROR  and that means you have to start all over again. This version
  23.      is somewhat less agressive than the one mentioned above, but this
  24.      one will also infect the computer when inserted in an external drive.
  25.      This means that no matter where you insert the disk (df0: df1: df2: df3:)
  26.      the computer will be infected.

  28. That was some general information on the Lamer-Revenge-Virus. Now let me
  29. explain how this killer works.
  30.  
  31. When you execute the Lamer-Defence program the first thing it will do
  32. is check the computer for any resident program. When it has spotted one it
  33. will display the following message:
  34.  
  35.     Resident program found in memory, might be a virus!
  36.     press return to force a cold reset.
  37.  
  38. There is no way to avoid this reset because it refuses to work with any
  39. resident program in the system.(this means you should not use any virus-
  40. killers beside this one).
  41.  
  42. When no warning is given and you used the -l option (this will be explained
  43. later on!) it will ask you to insert a disk in the drive you have choosen.
  44. When you have done this, wait a until the drive has stopped spinning.
  45. Only then press return!. This waiting is done because of the way the second
  46. Revenge virus works (with this virus it will take a bit longer for the drive
  47. to stop spinning, because the virus must be activated first!). When the
  48. second virus is found it will instandly be removed from the disk. When this
  49. has happend the computer will state that the virus was detected as the
  50. disk-validator, because the computer has been infected and i don't want any
  51. disks to be destroyed you must press enter to force a cold reset. I know
  52. that this is not the best way but is was the only way. When you want to
  53. check another disk and you were forced to reset you must start all over
  54. again. NEVER and i repeat NEVER use [ctrl amiga amiga] to reset the computer
  55. when you are asked to press return to force a cold reset, because when you
  56. do press [ctrl amiga amiga] the virus will still be active.

  58. When you want to use this utility to check for the second virus you must
  59. remember de following:
  60.  
  61.     start it as follows:   ld df?: -l (never forget the -l !!!)
  62.     never insert a disk before the program asks for one!!
  63.     always wait until the drives stop spinning!!
  64.  
  65. When you want it to check for the first virus you can start it up with or
  66. without the -l option. By the way the -l option stands for LOOP.

  68. Some general information:
  69.  
  70.     some notes for those who want to put this utility on their
  71.     utility-disk:  Add a disk-configuration to your disk. But be
  72.     sure that it isn't a Lamer-Revenge-Virus (use this util ??).

  74.     When the second virus was found and killed it will still be in the
  75.     'l' directory named Lamer_Revenge_Virus. Delete it or add it to
  76.     your collection of virusses!. But never execute it!!.

  78.     When the utility is on the original disk(that is the disk i made)
  79.     you will find the following programs:
  80.     - an original disk-validator (you need it to validate the
  81.                       disinfected disks!)(second virus!)
  82.     - dir    : to look in the directory L
  83.     - type   : to type the startup-sequence of a possible infected disk
  84.            (first version of the lamer-revenge-virus)  look for an
  85.            empty line in the startup-sequence because the name of that
  86.            virus is "     "   (five alternated spaces(alt+5*spc))
  87.     - delete : to delete the Lamer_Revenge_Virus in the directory L
  88.            don't bother to delete the disk-validator while the
  89.            virus is active it won't work.
  90.     - LD.DOC : this documentation file
  91.     - LD     : the virus killer  (short for Lamer-Defence)
  92.     It also containes a bootblock that spots every virus in memory but
  93.     one. The one that it cannot spot is the first Lamer-Revenge-Virus.

  95. You notice the presence of the second virus by putting a unvalidated disk in
  96. your drive without a disk-validator on it, normally the computer will state:
  97.  
  98.    unable to load disk-validator
  99.    use diskdoctor  etc. etc.
  100.  
  101. But now it doesn't do that because when ever the computer searches for
  102. the disk-validator it finds the virus and doesn't inform you that the
  103. disk-validator can't be found.
  104.  
  105. I hope i have informed you in time of these new virusses. I don't think they
  106. have spread much, because i noticed them in an early stage. But be sure to
  107. check your disks(programming disks!) for a possible virus.
  108. I used my own kickstart to find them. This kickstart recognises
  109. every virus. Interested ?. Come to our copy party and ask me a copy.
  110. (this one is better than our RIPKICK !).

  114. PS. I think a person who writes a virus deserves to be called
  115. the most misunderstood person that ever set foot on earth! (I like to
  116. keep it nice!) further more i think that the person who writes the
  117. LAMER virusses is in fact himself the biggest LAMER!!!
